“Did you “Cloud” on Glee?!!!!” OK, I’ll admit the first time I saw Glee, I really thought Harry Shum Jr. and Cloud were the same person haha! I knew something wasn’t right! They are two different people: Daniel “Cloud” Campos and Harry Shum Jr. Ok, so maybe that answers a lot of questions that some of you Gleeks have had! Both have similar stand up styles, but “Cloud’s” is a lot more fresh! Cloud is a true bboy and can kill a beat like none other!
First time I saw Cloud kill it was on Red Bull BC One against Neguin 2009 and the same years final against Lilou! Daniel Campos born May 6, 1983 (the best year ever) in Georgia but growing up in San Diego (the best city ever) worked towards dreams to become a dancer, choreographer, and actor! Well he definitely achieved those dreams and much more as a director of amazing videos on YouTube! He is best known for his backup dancing with Madonna and also for his quick stand up style and fancy footwork in his Bboy’n!
From his ventures with his dancing and acting, he has taken to the directors seat to create some captivating shorts on his YouTube channel! He captures intimate settings where its just him, a song, and the dance! One of the first videos I watched was with Steelo in the LXD Showdown:
The next film I watched from Cloud was “The Music Box” which takes Daniel through an adventure on a studio space which has magical and musical features! Easily the best short film on YouTube for 2011 and many great reviewers agree! The cinematography, the musicality, and the overall dancing fuse together for what should be an award winning short film!
A Crew member of mine, Blake “BlakeDance” Campbell, applies a lot of inspiration from Cloud in his dancing. Blake says, “His style is original, fresh, and dynamic. His films are creative, funny, and talented. His inspiration is what pushes me to break harder, to stay original, and to have fun.” It’s true the style of his dance, the creativity of his films, and the work ethic he shares along with his ability to just be goofy!
From the Bahamas (Swiffz Crew) another friend of mine, Sean Pe’pe Amerthil says, “I would have to say that he iz extremely creative in his art and an outstanding dancer. His style is unique, his films are outstanding and imaginative and the inspiration is contagious…just makes you want to go out and do a head spin with a camera attached to your head lol :p..did i say to much?” Haha, no you said it perfectly!!!
One of my favorite videos other than “The Music Box,” was his tribute to MJ where he states, “Don’t Imitate…Originate!” He absolutely covers the MJ style in this video, in terms of his dancing, but adds a comedy aspect where he pretty much breaks every bone in his body and at the end…well…you’ll have to see it!
We hope you enjoyed these videos and we hope to see more from Daniel Campos aka Cloud! He is a true inspiration to the art of dancing, the cinematic arts, and his creativity to be original!
